Question

Help. I have a flash movie that is quite large so I need a preloader. Simple so far.

The only trouble is the main scene has only one key frame with the whole of the movie contained within a movie symbol which I created and dragged into the main scene from the library.

How do I put a preloader onto this movie? Do I have to put it at the beginning of the movie symbol, how do I do this?Help.

Rik

Create a new scene called Preloader, and order it before the Main scene using the Scenes window.

Now in the Preloader scene, you can create your pre-loader movie. You could have say 10 frames, with a bar which moves up a click in each frame.

In frame 1, but an IfFrameLoaded action (i.e. If frame loaded (end, main)), and reference the last frame (end) in your preloader scene. A good thing to do here is place all of your images, symbols etc in the background of the preloader. So for each frame, place the movie bits outside the viewable area.

The movie will load the preloader scene first, then loop around loading the main parts, until the last frame (end) has loaded. It will then move onto the main scene and load your main movie.

Daz - Downloaded it a few weeks back, but keep forgetting to have a go with it - it's supposed to be tip top.

Will have a go later
