Default How to use counta function in Excel?

Aargh all I want to do is count the number of cells in a range that contain the string YES. Ive tried following the help file and used counta(A1:A150, YES) and counta (A1:A150, "YES") but they dont work.

Anyone who can actual use Excel know what Im doing wrong?

Cheers
Simon
