Think Google Docs but from Microsoft that only needs a Facebook account to work.

An attempt to compete I would think, more and more people are realising that you don't need to buy Office to create Office compatible documents, Google Docs has been working offline for a good while but they're now rushing to release a HTML5 version that will I would think will be even better. The consumer market is huge and connected and Office will continue to lose that market if they don't evolve.

Microsoft offered a hosted version of Office years ago, many service providers invested heavily in the infrastructure to host it, it flopped, it was ahead of it's time. They probably set a threshold back then for it's reappearance and the number of subscribers to Facebook most likely helped tipped the scales.

I of course would love a version of Apple works included in my me.com subscription and no doubt that's on it's way.
