Default iPhone troubles

Ive got an iphone that always goes into recovery mode,nothing else...try to update it via itunes and it just goes back to recovery mode with the connect to itunes on the display.
The phone isnt/wasnt jailbroken and the home button is not working lol.
All this from a Macbook.
Any ideas,help appreciated

I had similar on a 3g at the weekend for a friend of mine. I put it in recovery mode and it kept giving error 1013, I couldn't sort it so it's gone back to the shop.

If the Home button isn't working it should go back to the shop.

You can 'hard reset' it by holding down the home button (if it is working) and the power button at the same time for 10 seconds or so.

take it to the apple shop if its in warranty
