X BOX or PS2 ???
X-Box - most powerful machine, lacks the huge catalogue of games the PS2 has
PS2 - not as powerful, but has maturing large quantity of excellent games, some of which, like GT3, are now selling for £19.99
Go try them both at first hand, buy one, then come here and start large argumentative threads as to which one is best, like we do.

I played Rallisport Challenge on wed at Scott W's.
There are some good cars - Saab 93, Focus and Scoob hillclimb cars have loads of power, and theres things like the Audi Quattro, Metro 6R4 plus all the standard rally cars. I really like the controllers, big at first but easy to master the controlls on RC.
The ice racing is the best though, total sideways action and the replays are amazing. We played 2 player split screen top/bottom and that was quite nice (although Scott had it projected on the living room wall so it was quite big).
If i was not buying a new induction kit for the Clio and a new sink for the missus
then i would get an X box today !

As Dave (Druddle) said - get the XBOX as Rallisport Challenge is superb.
The whole gameplay and graphics are superb, and when you see such detail as the driver's head moving in the direction you wish to go in, it just makes it so much better than the PS2.
The whole gameplay is definitely enhanced when coupled up to a projector!!!

Scott, "Get the X-Box cos Rallisport Challenge is great" ?
Is it as good as Gran Turismo 3 ? (£19.99) on PS2 ?
WRC on PS2 features a rally driver who's head turns in the direction the cars heading (one of many views I believe)

Daz - in terms of options then no it's not as good as GT3 (i.e. rally, road racing, tuning cars, etc..) but in terms of actual gameplay then I would say it is better. The drivers head movement is during the replay, etc.. as well as during the gameplay. I am not sure if this is the same as WRC?
I have also got Tony Hawkes 3 which although is the same game as the PS2, is a lot better graphically on the XBOX. IMO opinion as soon as more games come out (Crash Bandicoot, etc..) they will better to play on the XBOX than the equivalent game on the PS2.

Scott, agreed. Same games, but better graphics.
Saying that, I just got Everybody's Golf III for my PS2, so that'll keep me and my mates occupied for another month.
Might have a look at a GameCube in May, but again only if there's some quality titles about and Nintendo make some of the best.
Is Sega releasing anything yet for X-Box ?

I can only vouch for the excellent Xbox cause I haven't used a PS2 extensively.
I've been playing Halo co-op with a few mates but we seem to have got to a level that just goes on repeating the same room layouts over & over & over etc.
Just got PGR & Rally though and they are both excellent (PGR might be a bit of a disappointment to anyone thats played through Metropolis Street Racer though)

I was completely let down by the PS2. Knew it wasn't going to be that hot when sony cut down it's spec shortly before it was released. Preferred the Dreamcast easily. Bought a PS2 with GT3 out of sheer boredom one day. Unpacked it. Played it. Boxed it. Refunded it. Simple aqs that for me. Of sourse the X-BOX hasn't got a large game portfolio yet, it is only in it's early release stage, it ain't exactly as 'established' as the PS2.
Cheers,
Nick.

Well done for working that one out mate! - but that's actually a valid reason NOT to buy an X-Box yet to some people!
Got to agree on Dreamcast - I love mine to bits, but its probably going back into its box now I've finished Shen Mue II. Technically its very underrated. I've seen effects on my Dreamcast that I haven't seen on PS2 yet!
