Help with an Acer laptop
My lad has an Acer Aspire 6530 with Vista Home Premium.
Up until recently it has performed flawlessly, but now, for some reason is on a go slow. By this, I mean all processes seem to take ages and for him, the most annoying thing is that when he goes onto youtube any video he watches keeps stuttering and stopping. I've played the sample videos which are pre loaded onto the machine and even these behave in the same way.
I've run the virus scan (Kapersky 2010), tried restoring it and deleted cookies etc, but I'm still none the wiser and it still goes slow.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Get the task-manager up and see what's running. Check out how to turn-off unwanted services. Pound to a penny he's downloaded some *free* sw that's causing the go-slow.

PS: use XP myself so can't give exact commands to do the above as I can't check them out for you ...

I would try downloading Spybot search and destroy and Superantispyware run both of these and see how much rubbish is on it.
