Default download video's from youtube etc

I had something on my laptop that allowed me to download video's from youtube(youporn ) etc, it was just a button that sat above the video being played. However since my Laptop's been in for repair it's dissapeared! I don't want to go back to the repair shop as they were crap! I've got a feeling that it may have been something to do with Quicktime, but now I can't find anything about it and I want to download Rammstein's ***** video for a friend of course!

D/L Apple Safari. Not sure if it's the same on PC, but on a Mac you go to the 'Window' menu and select 'Activity'. This opens a new window showing all content on every site currently being viewed. Double-click on any content you want to steal and it downloads it to your desktop. The video content is usually the largest file, and often isn't complete so will show '1.4 of 4.5mb' or whatever, and the file name will say 'videoplayback?' in its URL. No additional apps required, and the files play in Quicktime, VLC or Real Player. I think they're usually FLV's now.
