Default Dead TV?

Not really a computer - but somebody might be able to help. My mum's TV has died - red light comes on the power button but no sound/picture - do TV's have a main fuse or anything inside? Need to get sorted cos I'm not going there for Xmas without a TV to watch!

What tv is it...make and model ??

Main fuses arent really included on 'modern' units anymore, but even if they did, they are on the power supply stages and would cause a completely dead unit.

More likely to be (if its a lcd/plasma) that some caps have blown on the either the power board or maybe the invertor stages.

Has happened a couple of times to my old fashioned CRT, power supply and then the line transformer. Cost me about £80 to get it repaired IIRC.

It's a Mitsubishi!!!!! CT 2125 TX - quite old and certainly not LCD/Plasma - and way out of any warranty. Suspect it's just died of old age - annoying as just bought her a dvd recorder for Xmas!

Buy a new TV! Besides, you can get one with a built-in digital terrestrial tuner in and save on having a separate set-top box and less remotes

Do not open the old CRT unless you know what you are doing, you could get a serious electric shock that could possibly kill you even if it is unplugged!
