Default Laptop suggestions please?

Hi guys. My Sony vaio laptop is on its last legs and I need a new one soon.

I don't have a desktop anymore, and actually hardly take the laptop out of the house so portability is not really an issue. My needs are really word processing, internet surfing, powerpoint, storage of photos etc. Nothing too complicated, and I don't game.

I'd like a minimum 15" screen but may consider 17". I need something robust and reliable.

I'd like to keep the budget approx £750 ish but am a little flexible.

Thanks

Are you open to an alternative Operating System?

Apple Imac or Mac Mini? Can also dual boot if you need Windows....

All that you've asked for, the Mac does. And easily. No fuss.

Failing that, there's LOADS of screen-based PCs (no tower as such)

HTH

Hi Dan.

Mac is not really for me I'm afraid.

By screen based PC's do you mean something different to a laptop?

I'm really after a laptop, I think! How about a Dell Inspiron? As good as any other for the money?

If, repeat if, I can resolve the issues raised as per my other post (Laptop Woes) I remain keen on the Toshiba which I got after a lot of looking around. On offer at Staples for £347 it has a 500 MB drive, Pentium processor, 4 gb RAM along with a web cam and Windows 7 installed. I just needed to get Word for Office at about £70 and some better speakers. Compaq have a slightly larger screen but spec is not nearly so strong. dl

We have Dell at work. The one i'm using now has been all round the houses and on weekdays it is run all day (albeit in a docking station). Considering buying my own and Dell will be first stop.

Sis has an Acer and its been nothing but trouble. Customer service has ben the main issue there though.

5t.
