help me out here
really should be in computer section but get a better response here.
i have just downloaded 5GB of astranews in 6 mins and 3 seconds. i am using dumeter which gives throughput. now my maths is pretty good but is this right?
5GB = 5120MB
5120MB / 363 seconds = 14MB per second approximately
50mBit Virgin connection , something is wrong here surely?

why -- what if the server delivering the file is being used heavily
or if its connection to the internet is only 2 mb
after all your only guranteed that speed to the exchange (or at least to Virgin's POP) then all bets are off

14MB per second lads read the OP. that more than a 100mBit connection. the speed is too fast. thats why i think i have missed summat in my maths. looking at the DuMeter graph it seems to be in bursts. graph is up and down like a yoyo. asked dumeter to give me average speeds only and it hasnt droped below 11MB/second since 4.15 pm
