As above, go to Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com and download the latest desktop software.

Also, download the latest software for your handset.

Install both, then let the software search for the updates once you've connected your device. It *should* install the OS and get you up and running again.

If you need a hand, please feel free to give me a shout at burratha<at>gmail<dot>com and I'll do what I can to help. I'm always messing with the firmware of my BB.

lol cheers for the PM mate.

I have to say Ant is spot on, sync it up and get its OS up to date, and all data backed up.
Is this its first start up then, or have you been using it a while? Bought new or s/h ?

I would say drop me a BBM but clearly you cant at the mo, but feel free to mail/PM me, like Burr I will do what I can

Remove battery, give it 30 secs, put battery back in, start up again and see if that helps

Yep - If I remember rightly I had a similar issue with my 8900 and this worked.
I wouldn't have waited 2 weeks though - my patience would give it 10 mins

Battery pull solves a whole range of issues should any arise lol.

Any joy yet?

was new as an upgrade, it worked until I took the battery out to put sim card in then wouldnt boot back up so it went back in box to be sorted later

took your advice guys and updated the software and it worked THANKS

phone was on and everything was fine until I took the battery off again to put in sim card, same problem it wont boot up I updated the software again and it worked fine, battery out again fooked it up

I know I could just update it with my sim in and leave it on but why does it reset when the battery is removed I sometimes need to swap sim cards so this really isnt an ideal option

Something sounds wrong, hardware wise mate. It should have no problem having the battery removed for any period of time. Sounds like a faulty unit

Time to call up the carrier and tell them you want a replacement asap.

So each time the battery is taken out, it wont reboot no? Just hangs on the clock?

Could be worth doing a search on BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com
I will have an ask about all the same and see if anyone has come across the same problem.
But definatly call the supplier asap.

but have a couple of questions

I cant get it to receive from bluetooth, I have even paired it with my nokia but still cant send anything to it

and what do i need to set up BBM my partner has a Blackberry and I have stored PIN numbers in both, It said that a notification to add me had been sent but not one of the phones recieved a request

lol ok, first things first (the easy one) BBM. Go to Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com and download BBM 5.0.
Once you have that on there, the PIN request notifications will come through to the application, and not just your PIN messaging as it is at the mo.

Once you have it installed, just add the PIN to the contacts and it will send a request to the other person. 2131b0bb if you want to test it on me lol.

Bluetooth, they will send and receive but are picky about it and need pairing and permissions setting too. Again Crackberry will have the answers from a single search I reckon
They are limited in their send/receive but not quite as limited as iPhones lol.

As for sticking with it, you are mad lol. I would not put up with something not working right for a second Although it all sounds a little bizarre to me.
Try this... install Quickpull on it, then run it and see what happens. Im interested to know if its a problem with the phone storing the boot records when the power is removed, or just a problem with the booting itself, which using quickpull will determine.

What are you trying to transfer between phones, or do you just mean in general?

agreed get it sent back. Battery pull is a part of blackberry ownership. it frees up memory due to memory leakage problems that seem to be the bain of blackberrys.

lol if you cant find BBM 5.0, get off the internet, you dont have a clue lol.

As per the link above, or just go to blackberry.com on the berry and the link is there. Or download BB App World and its featured there too.

Although that said, 3310, formidable phone! lol
