Default Disappointed with webcam quality.....

My daughter got herself a webcam this week and uses it to call her mates and she can phone us through Skype for free. No "girlie has webcam" jokes please

But the picture quality is pretty poor and perhaps I am expecting too much.

The webcam will be at the cheap end of the market and she uses a reasonable spec Toshiba laptop. We have a stand alone 3-year old PC. She would normally phone at night under artificial lighting.

So what, if anything, is likely to be the weak point in the set-up?

David,

What resolution is the camera? some of the cameras at the lower end of the market are not the greatest for picture quality, my laptop have a 1.3Megapixel one, and that seems to be pretty useable on the rare occaions i have used it.

Thanks Ian, I'll ask. david

Apparently it's a Toshiba PX134XE - I Cam. But I can't find megapixels, Google seems to have gone all Spanish!! About £20
