Default Wireless router to connect 2 iphones?

Can I use a wireless router on it's own (ie just plug it into the power) with no internet or pc connection to connect 2 iphones together for gaming?

At work there's a few of us with iphones and a couple of the good games require a wireless router to connect with eachother.

Is it possible to do this just for connecting the 2 phones for gaming against eachother?

Care to give an example of a game that you are planning on doing this with?

Obviously you'd need a PC/Mac involved to setup the wireless router, but once you have done that you shouldn't need an internet connection as you can have a wireless internal network, ie; not connected to the outside world.

So, in theory, yes, it should be possible to set this up.

Surely as long as you're all seeing the same SSID (wireless network) it should work fine.....

Yes, I think so. I don't even see why I'd have to connect it to a PC either? Surely when it's plugged in the wireless contact part is always running. I don't need to connect to the net or a PC, just connect the 2 phones using the wifi.

wouldnt the router need setting up first, with an ID and password (or not)?

so you would initially need it connected to a pc to do this, after its done you wouldnt
