web getting stuck after every 5/6 pages

I'm an AOL internet user. I've had my PC now for a couple of months - bought 2nd-hand from a friend.
When on the internet, after every 5-6 pages (approx) turned or 'clicked' (correct term) a page will get stuck and I can't advance without doing a 'refresh' which can take about 30secs to 1min.
Have I got something set up wrong?

You don't by chance have a network card fitted do you which you're not using.
If you have (and you're not using it) disable it under the system device manager.
That sorted it for me.
