Default Xbox Live going up in cost?

Very intresting use of words IMO!

Microsoft's group manager of corporate PR ('PR man') David Dennis has played down Michael Pachter's recent statement that the company is looking to double Xbox Live membership fees.

Says Mr Dennis to Matt Peckham at PC World, "I don't foresee a scenario where we're going to double the price of LIVE any time in the next couple (of) months".

Maybe the old rumours of a new VIP type of subscription are actually going to happen

Seems like commercial suicide, if a years subs to XBL goes up to £78 - I for one won't pay that, especially when it costs me nothing to us the PSN on my PS3.

That has really boiled my p1ss.....

I believe some of the french users were questioned on a new type of VIP membership, this was supposed to offer more content over normal gold users.

Xbox Live VIP rumours abound - Xbox 360 Video Game Rumour - PAL Gaming Network

I would not "upgrade" myself, if the VIP thing was not going ahead and normal Gold was going to cost twice as much, i think i would drop back down to silver to be honest, and take my multiplayer stuff elsewhere (as much as it would pain me to do so)

I don't mind paying for XboxLive as i think its a very good service but i would pay double for it. If i'm being honest, i think the price of XBL should be built into the games you purchase, for instance multi-player games being a few pound dearer than a single player.

Don't think i would pay double if they do put the price up that much, but i guess it's how much you use XBL if you think it's worth paying the extra...

When I was looking on forzamotorsport.net the other day at my friends list, three had got 'VIP' on their Gamercard. Is this related?
