Unable to boot from USB stick :(
So I have Lunix mint 7 on a USB stick that I can boot from the F12 boot menu on my laptop. All is good and I can get on with my C programming for my degree course.
The trouble being is that my desktop upstairs will not boot from the USB. I can get into the BIOS and select to boot from USB Floppy, USB HDD and USB ZIP but even when I select all three in order it will still tell me that its having a boot disk failure
The desktop can see the USB stick as its lists it on the device after the HDD on startup but will simply not boot from it, its also not listed from the F12 boot menu.
I have looked to update the Phoenix bios but their website palms me off on to another which charge $30 for the privilage of an upgrade.
Any ideas people? I dont want to do anything else but boot from the USB so no dual boot setups on the desktop please.

Have a look at this .... USB "Boot Menu" Phoenix Award BIOS | USB Pen Drive Linux
If that doesn't work you may find some clues at one of these links:
Boot From A USB Flash Drive
Boot and run Linux from a USB flash memory stick | USB Pen Drive Linux
Utility to make USB flash drives bootable - O'Reilly Digital Media Blog
Not tested any or read through any of them except to skim-read and see that they were at least applicable ....
Have fun.
