I have a Gmail (googlemail) account linked to my phone. can i link hotmail to it?
Pretty much as title states.
I'm looking to have my hotmail emails sent to my phone. my gmail account works but i do not use it.
If i set up a hotmail account as a pop3 it doesnt seem to work, so i was wondering if i could link my hotmail to my Gmail in a similar way to blackberry or microsoft exchange?

You can forward your mail to one other e-mail account.
[ ] Don't forward
[x] Forward your mail to the following e-mail accounts burratha@gmail.com
[ ] Keep a copy of forwarded messages in your Windows Live Hotmail inbox.

I can't get mine to do it as I just get the above message although it is a .co.uk one. I have 2 .com ones which like you i've had since year dot and just tried them and get the same error message.
I'm logging into mail.live.com and going to options and changing it under there. Is that where you have set it up?

It would appear that they changed hotmail last year to stop you forwarding to a non MS email address.
I just used "Get mail from other accounts" in Gmail to get my Hotmail and it's working a treat

Burr looks like you've been lucky to get that to work then. I've tried before now as well and it wouldn't let me. Dunk cheers for pointing that out, i'll try that in gmail and see how I get on.
I wish hotmail would do imap and be done with then I wouldn't have to keep marking mail as read god knows how many times for one email

Set up fetching my mail from my hotmail accounts into gmail, then set gmail up on iphone to use push email and it's bloody superb. Only slight issue is how long gmail can take to fetch from hotmail but that allegedly is based on how frequently it finds mail to fetch, the more it finds the more often it checks etc. Having looked on the Gmail support pages it sounds as though that will be a configurable setting at some point. Obviously forwarding would be better but I just can not get hotmail to let me forward to an external mail account.
