COD4 Xbox - anyone still playing?
Having had the game since release I only went online with it last night and discovered i'm only on Act 2 on single player 
How bloody difficult is online as a newbie?! Only up to level 5 last night, 2nd Corporal I think. Is your accuracy/ability to kill quickly improve with rank as I was blasting away with a saw and seemingly not killing players who were much higher ranked than myself, as in level 40-50+? Was only managing 5 or 6 kills a game.
Is the map pack worth buying? Anyone interested in doing a SN team/clan (if there isn't already one that is). I guess it is a lot easier to level up working as a team with headsets and coordinating your attacks.

I'm still playing it online. I never really got in to the online stuff with COD until recently (I also got it at time of release) and I'm going through the ranks as well. I'm now up to level 42 but it does take a while. One recommendation I would make is to do Team Domination as this will increase your XP a lot quicker than doing free for all for example.
Feel free to add me if want - Gixer Boy 75. Don't worry about the number of kills as there are some games you'll get quite a few and others that you won't. I was playing the other night and only got about 4 kills but died 28 times! Some bugger was sat there sniping on the map where I kept spawning!

Cheers, will add you both later. I was on until 1am last night and will play again tonight to try and get those points up and learn the maps. I did notice a fair bit of spawn point camping going on, especially with snipers which was a pain in the ar$e.

Cant believe youve just gone online with this, lol. Awesome game!
My advice would be to rank up as quickly as possible and dont bother promoting up when you reach level 55. All that happens is you lose all your weapons/perks and get a fancy new medal/badge.
Weapon of choice for me:-
M16A4 - 3 shot burst, very accurate with the red dot sight and quite deadly if you get all 3 shots on target.
Next would be the M4 Carbine for running about like a loon while shooting.
I'll be online later if anyone fancies a blast

a must have weapon for quick points is the mp5 ,you will find that most combat is up close and this will knock the socks out of any other weapon up close .
then like said when you have abit of experience use the M16A4

My advice would be to NOT buy any map packs, and simply use the game to get your skills up in preperation for Modern Warfare 2 which is out in a few months.
Then start from scratch with everybody else, it will be a dam site easier to rank up when everybody starts out as level 1 !!!!
I still remember my first online Cod4 game
The missus bought me it for xmas, along with a few other games, as a little treat i was allowed to select one present to open up early, so i cunningly chose one that looked like a dvd box, opened it up and it was the facking "the orange box"
I had constant updates from my mate, telling me he was hammering through the single player, getting right up to the top level with his skills, and he was going to destroy me when i got my copy at xmas
My first game online, turned out to be his second game online, and we both got utter destroyed no idea what we were doing/going/shooting at
I have only got up to rank 53, to be honest, after i got the barret sniper rifle, i kinda lost interest and stopped playing (i was only ever playing to get the 50cal sniper rifle, once i had it i lost interest
)

Thanks for the suggestions.
Right having checked the mission select option I am much further in the game than I am actually playing in resume game. I thought this last night and so I spent ages redoing missions i'd already done last time I played it
Why has resume game taken me back lots of missions? How do I get it to pick up from the last mission I completed? Resume game is now up to Act II mission 1 but in Mission Select i'm up to Act II mission 4 (Heat).

I havent played for months but was addicted way back. My best kill streak was 63 and that was only as I ran out of ammo lol.
This was on the PC though and Ive preordered MW2 on the PS3 so prob wont be able to hit a barn door at 6 yards after spending so many years on a keyboard and mouse

haha I was the same I obnly did the hardest level just to get the acheivement!The only one I can't do it the aeroplane under a certain time. It took me hours to do the training acheivement!

Were you in the game I was in then? I really enjoyed last night's blast, managed a score of 110 in one game 
Then went back to my normal results. Managed to unlock the red dot for the saw, that is by far and away my most successful weapon. I like sniping but i'm too slow currently and get spotted too quickly.
Boro I saw your invite and replied back late as was busy trying to ***** points to rank up when you messaged me.
I'm also sure there are some people cheating as they were lobbing grenades over a wall I was hiding behind when they couldn't possibly have known I was there. I had some very dubious deaths Bloody funny game though and not used the headset yet for fear of it all being yank kids swearing. Will only use the headset if playing with people off here.

that explains a lot then - even so there were still some dubious goings on. Emptying a new magazine from my saw into an enemy and he just stands there and kills me with one shot isn't right

Completed COD4 on veteran and got bored of wasting young yanks so upgraded to COD WOW, not a patch on 4 and now I only play Zombie level offline waiting for the new COD game!
