Sky+ Question regarding unplugged phoneline
Firstly I apologise if this thread has been raised before. I have done a search but cannot find an answer to my question.
I have been having trouble with my broadband connection speeds and noticed that plugging the router into the sky+ phone filter provided by sky is causing huge problems. With the router directly into the phoneline I am receiving BB speeds of 6.9Mb but with the Sky+ filter plugged in 1st I get only 1mb. Shocking!! A couple of pictures below to show what I mean.(excuse quality)
My question is, do I need to keep my sky+ box connected to the phoneline? I have no multiroom and never use box office etc. Will this cause me any other problems or system faults with the phoneline unplugged?
Many many thanks in advance!!

I wouldnt bother, personally. They say you have to be connected for the first year, or at least they did, but its your call completely. As far as Im aware, downloads can be sent across the satellite so you wont miss out on them.

Also the reason for the cr*p broadband speeds, plug the Sky thing in after ADSL micro-filter, not before it:
Code:
BT Socket -------> ADSL Filter ------> Sky thingy ------> Landline phone |-----> Router

For what its worth you dont have to have a phoneline at all to have sky.
I have HD and when I moved into my flat, sky wanted a land line - it handnt been connected so they said I have two options, 1) wait for the phone line and have sky connected then or 2) pay a one off fee of £25 to opt out of the telephone line.
If you have multiroom they ask you to have the landline in so they can make sure you havent sold on the box or somesuch reason.
