Where to sell a HP DL380 G5?
About 6 months ago I accquired a HP DL380 G5 server, an amazingly powerful server which is fairly decent spec:
2 Quad Core Intel Xeon CPU 2.3Ghz
12MB L2 Cache
16GB Memory
8 x 146Gb 2.5inch disks
Dual gigabit LAN
I installed Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and the VMs run like a dream, however, I never use it now and it's simply sitting in the garage with the OS running and no VMs - talk about overkill.
I'm thinking I'm problably better selling it as it's only acting as a data server (although a very powerful one).
Where would be the best place to sell it....E-bay??
Postage would be a nightmare
Any suggestions?

I haven't really thought about price, I was going to have a look around the net to see what they're going for.
Of course as standard they only come with 2-4GB of RAM and no disks so the 16GB RAM and 8 x 146GB disks must add value.
Open to offers I guess

having a quick look on fleabay gives some quite varied prices
cant remember how much we paid for ours which is a very similar spec to yours, and its only running Small Business Server 2008
Its an awkward sell in some respects unless you buy a carepaq for it as there wont be any warranty, but unsure if you can transfer carepaqs

I might chance it on E-Bay, I've also got a fully licenced copy of
Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V
SQL 2008
Visual Studio 2008
I assume I could let these go with the server??

Probably could if someone was interested, if they wanted them too
Ebay are really funny (or have been in the past) about selling Software, my bro had loads of his listing pulled even though they were all originals
I would be interested if the price was right, and my boss turns up LOL

The software is technically only licensed for the original purchaser, but if you sold it with the machien on which it was installed, with packaging and certificate of authenticity, then I'm sure it would be fine.
As for selling a DL380, they're noisy buggers, aren't they? And they really only like being rack mounted - they have a habit of overheating when shelf mounted. Or so I was told by our datacentre people when I wanted to do something out of the ordinary with one...
Sorry I can't give any more useful information.

The software was a gift from Microsoft, they were given out when I attended the launch of Server 2008 in Birmingham, they're full licences which successfully authenticate with MS when installed.
Don't agree about them not liking to be shelf mounted, they're designed to fit flush top and bottom with other servers and so are cooled from thefront and rear, shouldn't make a difference whether they're in a rack or not, mine has been shelf mounted in my garage for over 8 months and I've never had a problem with overheating.
Sonic, not sure about price, not looking to rip anyone off so feel free to pm me an offer, you're fairly local to me aren't you?
