" about blank " page pop ups ???
Using windows xp with internet explorer, every so often when I go to close a web page I get another web page opening up with the heading " about blank " then another and another and so on until there are loads off open pages shown along the task bar.
have ran superantispyware / kaspersky etc and all come back clean, is it a virus or malware as such or just a rogue reg entry or whatver that needs cleared out ??
did do a quick google search but not really any further foward and dont really just want to go ahead and download one off the so called quick fixes found on google incase it causes more problems than ever !!

Have you tried using another browser, setting it to the default broswer in the settings, and seeing if the same problem happens?
Downloading "fixes" tends to not be a good idea, as most of them aren't fixes and make everything 100 times worse..
You can also try scanning for viruses etc by going into safe mode (reboot your PC, and start hitting f8 until a menu pops up, then choose to run in Safe Mode without networking) this will mean only the essentials (ie. nothing bad that will stop itself being found) is running when you scan.
