Multiple Ipods on 1 PC?
Can it be done?
We're getting my daughter an IPod Touch for her B'day, and I don't want her screwing up mine!
We have seperate user accounts, so if she runs ITunes from her account and syncs with her IPod, will the two devices clash?
Cheers!

I was going to say 'yes', but I'm not sure about the two accounts part!
We have iPhones, Touch and Nano and they all sync off of the same computer but with the same login to iTunes.

Cheers Steve, so do all your Ipods contain the same data then? I can't see my daughter having much interest in Oasis and the Sex Pistols!

I have mine on 'Sync All' and 'Manual Sync' for the rest so that I can drag the albums I want to inflict on my wife and children. The iPhones and Touch have the same applications.

I'd would say the answer to your question is "Yes" providing you each have your own account. The iTunes information is stored within an iTunes folder within the My Music folder that is located within My Documents. Thus each user with an account has their own My Documents folder and therefore their own iTunes environment meaning their own music and playlists, and thus syncing won't be an issue.
The only time you'd see an issue is if you tried to sync your iPod when logged in as your daughter, as it would see there is a difference and basically wipe your content replacing it with hers.

Steve, cheers for that.
Markus, that's what I thought. So as long as I keep my Ipod out of my daughters account, and vice versa, all should be tickety boo!?

So everyone has their own folder, in which Itunes copies the files to (if you're ripping them off a CD etc). What happens if you want the same album on both your ipods? would you have to have two copies of the album on your hard drive?
I know storage in this day and age of 1Tb drives isn't exactly an issue but if there's three 32Gb ipods in your house!?

Yes, and with ease
Wife and I had separate user accounts on windows and now have separate user accounts on an imac
Each user account has its own itunes library and music files.
You can use the 1 itunes account for all users and if you buy a song on one windows login you can import it to the other itunes library on the other windows login, and hence play it on both devices.
