Default Problems burning AVIs to DVD

I have some AVI files (films) I would like to burn to disc so I can watch them on the normal TV, I have been dragging them into NERO and beginning the burning process.

But the disc pops out at the very end with a prompt saying "not enough room on disc"

Now these are 7/800MB files going onto a 4.7G DVD.

Can anyone shed any light on this please.

Or recommend and software that I should be using to do this rather than NERO.

Cheers

vso convertx to dvd.

although personally I'd buy a DVD player or media player that will play the divx avi's without converting. The hassle of numerous dvd's and time it would save would be more than worth it. an xbox 360 or ps3 also plays them.

Mark,

Another vote for the VSO software. Easy to use and does what it says on the can. Didn't you get an xbox 360 though? That will do stream it easy enough without converting.

I got a PS3,

streaming??

As you may be able to tell, this is really not my subject.

How would I get the file from my laptop to the PS3 anyway?

You can either stream it over wifi to the PS3 or I believe use a USB stick and just copy the file on to it and play direct from the PS3.

Bloody hell, I didn't think of that, is it really that easy?

Will the PS3 need anything doing to it, or will it just play a AVI off a memory stick?

Thanks for the help so far guys.

I don't have a PS3 but I believe it's the same as the 360. Your PS3 if up to date with the firmware and codecs (is it connected to the net?) should see the usb pen as a drive and play the avi.

Or just copy the files as data onto a DVD and play then on the ps3 as you would on a DVD player.

PS3 media server is your man.
I use this.
ps3mediaserver - Google Code

Dead easy to use, switch on PS3, start media server and simply browse using the PS3 to where ever your content is.

If it complains, simply change the port number in the configuration tab - I picked 42000 on mine.

Oh - another thing, if you use a memory stick then make sure its formatted at FAT32.
NTFS doesn't work.
Same goes for an external USB hard drive.
