360 media play problem
I'm having a problem playing music on the Xbox media player. I plugged my iPod into the 360 and went to the music player. The ipod was there in view so I clicked on it and attempted to play an album. No luck, it said a media update was required to play the tracks on the ipod so i did! It made no difference!! Most of the tracks have a little 'stop sign' next to them indicating they wont play. The strange thing though is some tracks will play.
Just to add, all songs on my ipod have either been burned from CD or bought from iTunes.
Any idea's folks?

No, the 360 will play aac if you download and install the optional Apple update. Not sure that it works with protected content however because of the licensing (i.e. it won't work with files bought from itunes as they are only licensed to work on the ipod and the machine they were downloaded onto).

Many thanks for all the replies guys. I've finally set up my Media extender and I have no songs on my Windows Media Player. How do I transfer them over from Itunes so I can listen to all my tunes whilst gaming?
In the end I realised my network was set up to Public not Private. once done my xbox was viewable!!
All i need to do now is get my tunes on WMP. Any tips?

You can't very easily. ITunes by default encodes in AAC (and anything you have bought will be in AAC as well). Media player uses WMA/WMV. To be able to stream to the 360 from media player, you'll need to convert the files first.

That depends on what format you used. If you used the default iTunes settings, then they will have been ripped as aac files as well (you have to force iTunes to rip as mp3). Your only option in this case is to either rip everything again using media player, or find a conversion utility to convert the files from aac to wma/mp3.
