Default Vista Version Question

just built a Dual Core pc, and my OEM Vista Home won't register, so it looks like I'll have to buy another one.
Is there any performance advantage to getting the 64 bit version?
mainly using PS CS3

thanks

I run an OEM version of vista, never a problem registering it, have you tried calling them?

Otherwise the advantages are minimal depending on what applications your running, games/browsing etc, 32bit is fine, high end apps like CAD, 64bit is far better.

Yes, just call the Microsoft registration help phone number - it's an IVR - and you simply hit the "I've only got this machine running with this license" (or something like that) and it'll happily read an activation code out to you...

Simples!

I'll try that, as it is the only version. I actually have a second version unused, as it won't run too well on my 512MB laptop!

it's be nice to save the £85 - just had a MOT bill for my £1500 car for £830

i think it is because An OEM license only allows you to use the software on the specific computer it came with, and is tied to various components on the motherboard, if you change them it assumes you are using it on a new PC

Just ring them, tell them your Motherboard was fried so had to replace it, they will give you a new activation code then.Worked for me anyway

As I faffed around installing 32 and then 64 bit and back to 32 bit the activation didn't work. As above I called Microsoft and it was fine.
