Thumbs up

My mate's just had to buy a new hard drive after his laptop (AJP 3100B - PIII 450) died....

We've got the everything back up and running, and I've put Win2K pro on instead of 98se.

He's got a PCMCIA 56k fax modem made by Apollo. No model numbers. Can't seem to find any drivers for it, and the CD supplied only has drivers for 95,98 & NT.

Any ideas where I can get them?

Also the AJP website doesn't seem to have current M/board drivers etc for Win2k. Again, any ideas where to find 'em?

At this rate, might have to reinstall 98se

Thanks in advance....

Dan

Have a butchers at http://www.driverguide.com and have a look at the new Beta 2 search engine. It's pretty good as I found odd drivers on there for a desktop that I rebuilt for a friend. The username/password to access the site is:

drivers
all

Failing that,do a search on google using the exact modem chipset number or any unique numbers on the modem!

Hope this helps?

Nick..

IIRC Apollo is a chipset from Lucent rather than a manufacturer.

The laptop was I think made by Kapok, if it has an FCC ID then you can check at www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/ or look at some of the other resellers who sold the 3100B model of laptop for drivers.

http://www.56k.com/ is useful for finding modem drivers for unbranded / unknown modems.

Cool

Scary......
I have had a colleague come in today with a laptop for me to fix for them. Guess what it is?

An AJP 3100C Laptop complete with Apollo Modem card. The name of these nasties rang a bell from a few months back trying to find drivers for another of these. It is actually made by a company called Abocom.

This is a link to the exact PCMCIA card that I have in my hands currently:

http://www.abocom.com.tw/fm560.htm

Probably too late now, but hope this helps....

Cheers,

Nick

Exclamation

Actually.......

There are 2 different variants of this card. The straight 560 and the 560CB. They both look identical, but seem to have pretty different drivers. I downloaded both the standard 560 drivers and the 560CB 2k drivers and it took the CB drivers, not the 560 ones...

Cheers,

Nick
