Question

Hello

Could anyone answer this question for me. I need to upgrade the hard disk capacity of a 1500 server for monday . Unfortunately the server only has 2x1Gb FastSCSI-2 HD and I'm in need of about 10GB With the stupid cost of additional 2.1 SCSI-2 Drives I was thinking along the lines of installing a IDE controller in the PCI slot and then purchasing 1x IDE 10GB HD.

Can anyone confirm that this will work as I'm concerned that as the 1500 are outdated the hard disk won't be seen correctly under win2k. I know it’s a stupid question but I need reassurance, I'm under too much pressure!!!!!!!!

I hate Mondays!

Thanks

rr

It should work fine, does the 1500 not have an onboard ide controller like the 800, and 1600's ??

If so just use that... the only thing is that you may have to update the bios, as compaqs are sometimes funny about what you stick in them...

The BIOS might be an issue - not sure if it will pick up the IDE controller if you want to boot off the IDE drive.
