Xbox`s and hard drives
Thinking of getting a used xbox and noticed they have different sized hard drives. Some are sold without any at all. I just want to run games so which would be the best to get and whats the advantage of the bigger hard drives?

It depends on if you want to be able to save your games and achivements, (you could just do that to a memory card which you plug in to your control pad), if you want to download content from Xbox Live be it full games, additional content or even system updates.
The old 20gb models aren't made anymore, so you'll be looking at the 60gb on the white systems or 120gb on the black Elite systems.
I'd buy a new one so you get the warranty, just in case there are any issues with it. Saying that, I've not encountered a problem with my 360 in over two years.

Lol.... Both consoles have their pros and cons... best bit of advice is to see what your mates have got and buy the same. For aaaaaages my boss (and good mate) was trying to convince me to get a PS3.... I did eventually and a month later, he picked up a second hand xbox..... Guess what we're on most of the time now......
If you look around... you can pick up an 'Arcade' (one without HDD) for as low as £80 brand new.... bargain

I'd go for one with a storage option. That way when playing on Xbox Live with your mates, you have the ability to download updates for games as well as in most cases these days add-on multi-player maps, which can be free of charge

The bigger the hard drive on the xbox the better really, imho. I've not had any probs with the HDD's but I did have to send my ancient 360 back for a free replacement. The newer the 360 the better as well as they keep improving on the chipsets etc. (probably because the old ones were so goddamned cack)

If you get an Xbox, buy new.
My sons failed at 15 months due to overheating (one red light) and out of warranty. It was bought from Game and after initially being told over the telephone that it wasn't covered under warranty (12 months form new/3 years for 4 red lights) I visited Game, in person, armed with a lot of trading standards knowledge/sale of goods act/inherent problem/reasonable length of service/threats of the small claims courts I left Game with a brand new xbox witha new warranty.
To cut a very long story short, an electronic entertainment device should last longer than 12 months (A reasonable length of time would be 6 years) and if you have a contract with a supplier (NOT the manufacturer) you are entitled to a repair or refund (maybe only a part-refund depending on how long you've had it) under UK law.
I think that alone is worth the premium of buying NEW rather than used!
