Default After the quietist fan. > Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme

Ive got a Arctic Cooling 64 TC which is 1.5 sone you can hear it but most would say its silent.

Im looking at this one Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme 0.5 sone.

Under spec it says

Main Features:

Unmatched cooling performance – 160 Watts
Unique twin tower 102-fin heat sink design
Effective heat dissipation via 4 double-sided heatpipes
1 ultra quiet 120mm PWM fan
Patented fan holder eliminates the buzzing sounds
Voltage regulators and north bridge cooling
Pre-applied MX-2

160 watts?? what that mean?? it takes 160 to run?

ANyone got this? I thought about water cooling but i hear the pump makes a noise.

The 160 watts refers to its cooling capacity.

No I don't have one. But I did build a very quiet PC for music applications a couple of years ago. I used a Zalman CPU cooler and Zalman HD coolers and a Zalman silent Pwr Supply. These people have a lot of eqipment for quiet PCs

The way to make quiet fans is to use a bigger fan which rotates more slowly.

a good idea in theory BUT to make it sound proof it will end up being pretty much air tight as well. You need air flow of some description to cool the mobo / cpu / ram / gpu etc with no air flow then no cooling and you will get a very rapidly overheating computer

if you do want to go all quiet then either do alot of reading of the reviews and how to guides found here on the silent pc website or look further into water cooling (which wont be very cheap)
