Dell Question 34 bit vs 64 bit??
I am looking at a New Dell Desktop XPS 430
On the spec list you have the choice of either Window Vista Home Premium SP1 32bit or 64 Bit
What is the difference and what should spec ?

Personally I would go with 64bit these days. Simply it will allow you to utilise more ram which will mean less swapping to disk (virtual ram) and generally speed up the system albeit by a hardly noticeable amount for general usage. I would only go for it if you're thinking about 4gigs of ram or more and honestly I would recommend 4gigs these days. If you're just using it for letters and web browsing then < 4gigs and 32bit is fine.

Vista has so so many problems still and as said u need 4gig of ram to run it at a half decent speed

Thank you... My laptop runs Vista and I too have never had a problem with it.
Im thinking of a XPS 430 with 2.33ghz quad core 4mb cache
4096MB Memory, so think the 64bit is the way to go.

Yep 64 bit Vista all the way. Had a 32bit corporate build on my work laptop, and last week installed 64 bit instead and the available memory went from 3300mb to 4096mb !! It runs Ableton Live much faster too...
