Record companies making less money

Well it looks like the record companies who have ripped the public off are now not making as much as they expected.

Drop the prices and maybe they dont stiff the public for £17 for an album and they will get people buying their stuff.
Napster was the forefront for music swapping but there are lots of other things around to enable downloads of music.

anyone remember circa 1984 (i think) with the arrival of compact disc and how albums (which were about £5.99 at the time) were going to become cheaper because of how cheap it was to produce compared to vinyl etc.
that happened didnt it...............................
