Why, out of interest, do these vary so much? Surely they just do the same thing?

Well they all do the same thing as in provide power to a laptop, however I am guessing that when a manufacturer designs a laptop the designers make it work with a specific power requirement, and as such then make / purchase a power pack to provide the relevant power requirements

I know what you mean though, I have 3 Dell Laptops here, and all 3 have different power supplies because they are 3 very different laptops

I also happen to have about 4 different Acer power supplies here too, which are similar voltage but the connectors are slightly different
