Default Free Virus Checker ??

I had AVG FREE for ages and ages. But the other day it said that I had 3 days to upgrade ?? So I deleted it and tried to reinstall from AVG FREE.COM. Downloaded it but it says there is an error every time I try and load it on.
Can someone tell me of a decent FREE Anti virus I can run on my computer to do the same job as AVG?

Thanks

If you want free you either use AVG or download a cracked version of something else.

Try running the removal tool for AVG

AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Tools download

and then reinstalling

Avira is the alternative to AVG.

From what I've heard Avira is a lot better than AVG, sometimes PC World has cheap versions of Kaspersky on offer which would be a better bet, my dad got it for £15 which is a very good deal.

Nod32 however would get my vote but I doubt you would be able to get that cheap officially

Iain Young on here is a big fan of AVG

Got it sorted in the end... It was my Ad-Aware that was causing the problem, so needed to delete that and then reinstall it all ....

Thanks to you all for the heads up

Oi, don't get me started

Had to rescue yet another AVG installed, virus riddled machine last weekend. When will people learn?

So what you you recommend for a tightwad looking for a freebie?

I wouldn't. Not found a single freebie that does a good job. I'd spend £29 a year on a copy of Nod32
