firefox 3 - 25% cpu utilisation on idle - wtf ?
Anyone getting any firefox 3 issues ?
I've switched to Chrome, as Firefox is getting on my nerves - feels sluggish and I'm not putting up with 25% cpu useage at idle.

does it on my linux build all the time .... sounds like hamsters with jack hammers attacking my hard-drive too
It's a noted problem with the current work around being to go into the browser properties / options and turn off everything you can that you don't need ..... it got too clever for it's own good! lol!
or use a different browser
..... not so much worry bout virus's / spyware etc on linux though

Just to add to my original post...
Switched the computer on this evening to have the windows desktop turn black, with a large amateurish warning message centred on the desktop proclaiming WARNING! Your computer has been infected. It is recommended to start spyware cleaner tool
The thing had DISABLED my task manager
It had locked the display properties
It created browser windows desperately trying to display www.real-av.orgor something like that
Occassionally on reboot, it stopped me logging into windows
The solution...
NOD32 anti-virus/anti-spyware couldn't find anything
Super Antispyware didn't find it.
In the end, after several reboots and a few 30 minute scans and some googling, I used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which found 5 items and removed them all.
