Are games bought in the UK compatible with consoles bought in North America?

My nephew is living in Canada so will possibly send him a game for his birthday in Feb as he`s getting a Wii for Christmas.

Do not think they will be compatible, as we get games in the PAL format and the America gets them in NTSC format.

I thought as much (different region DVDs etc) but thought they might be compatible.......oh well, I`ll have to think of something different.

Do some googling, as a load of the US Xbox360 games work on UK consoles. I have Rainbow Six Vegas, PGR3 and Splinter Cell from the US and they all work.

I might just ask his parents to get one for him over there, it just strikes me as laziness on my part though, a bit like enclosing money in a card.....

I think they might work but only issue is the firmware dont update a pal unit using a NTSC game I know that goes for chipped units so guess its the same for normal ones
