Angry Vista annoyances

Ok firstly in the Startmenu, I sometimes get the programs folder duping itself within the Startmenu itself until a reboot, then it disappears. Any idea on how to fix, so it doesn't happen at all?

Second. I like to use folders for all my downloads etc which are at icon view, without the folder/navigation pane. Which is fine. BUT if I open Explorer and then turn on the navigation pane and then click a sub dir the navigation pane turns off. Ok so then I turn it back on and it sticks. However my folders that I mentioned at the start also then show the navigation pane when reopened, which I don't want on for those type of folders! aaaaaaargh.

My install (Home Premium) is pretty fresh and I have had the exact same things happen in Vista Ultimate on a completely different PC.

Any help appreciated thanks.

As your install is pretty fresh, I would seriously consider reverting back to XP.

I'm not that annoyed by it. XP is good, but I prefer Vista.
