Default Xbox 360 - Arcade or Premium

I've decided I cannot wait for Sony to drop the price of the PS3 any longer!

Can anyone tell me the pro's and con's of each system. Am I right in thinking that you cannot go online with the arcade?

Just find a good deal on the premium and go for that.

Check hotukdeals for the best offers. They tend to be posted on a Thursday in time for the weekend.

You can go online with the arcade model but storage is VERY limited as you are using a memory card to store everything as well as your profile so no real download capacity.

Think I have decided on the Premium. Going to game tonight. Does anyone know whether they come with a standard scart connector as my 32 inch lcd doesn't have a HDMI port. (on the shopping list!)

Won't be far off that price for a PS3 soon. I got an 80GB one with another Dualshock + MGS4 and two Blu ray for £250

not that I've played it much ........ I'm an Xbox fanboy

Yep, it's quite good for an arcade racer, and the graphics are great. I enjoyed it anyway

I have the Premium system and gotta say its a treat being to download all the latest demos before I go and buy the game. Dont think thats possible on the arcade version or its just very hard. I would highly recommend the premium, its worth that extra money.

It's exactly the same on the arcade providing you have a HDD plugged in...

if you buy the cheapy one you just end up spending more on all the bloody extras in time lol

i bought a core, then bought a memory card, then bought another video lead, then bought a VGA lead, then bought the 20gig hd and had my pants pulled down with the cost, then bought another controller, then bought the wireless headset

then it broke and i went out and bought an Elite and got everything free PMSL

I've got the basic Xbox360 and bought a 20GB hard disk off Microsoft for £12.99, from their website.

yeah but the 20gig ones cant really cut it now that the install game feature is available, i only have my favourite 3 games on it at the moment (gears 2, vegas 2 and forza), i think it would have wiped a 20gig one out for sure

You just can't stop modding stuff can you?

You can just about squeeze two games onto a 20 GB hard drive. Surprisingly though, out of the 20GB only 13GB or so is useable

A mate of a mate apparently has an external USB hard drive plugged in to the front of his and it works fine. I don't know if he's had to modify the console or anything though. Has anyone else tried this?

i know

always have to tinker with something or a i get bored lol

i never had a problem with my old 20gig drive before NXE came out as i was religious about deleting stuff like demos when i was finished with it, and it was mainly used for DLC map packs etc etc

but the install feature is probably going to be used quite a bit more in the future, with talk of games coming on more then 1 dvd disc?

i just got the impression that game installs were going to be "the norm" and games will probably be optimised for them in due course?

i suspect they will always be able to be played from the disc itself, but thinking back to the old floppy disc swaps on the amiga got me thinking!

MS used to state that there would never be games released for the Spox that would require the hard drive. However, I think that this stance might change in the future.
