Default upgrading cpu?

I have amd athlon 2.8 processor pc which I am hoping to link to my tv as a media centre. However the processor is letting me down with regards to what games I can play. Could someone please point me to somewhere with regards to overclocking, or where I can upgrade my cpu

Generally speaking if the PC is more than a few years old then this is the only option. Which more or less means build a new PC

some decent upgrade bundles (mobo, mem, cpu) available.
Q6600 CPU (cracking processor that overclocks well), decent mobo and memory can be had for not a lot of money, depending on your existing GPU may need a new one too.
Computer Hardware - All - Scan.co.uk Cheap Laptops, Hard Drives, LCD Monitors, TVs and more at Ebuyer are couple of decent places to try

All depends on your budget though

I've built 2 high spec pcs recently.

My advice is... use Scan.co.uk - when the components are sh@gged, they are the only ones who keep the after sales service painless for refund and replacement.

don't use the 1TB Samsung Spinpoint or 1.5TB Seagate Barracuda drives.

RAID0'd drives will make your PC *much* 'faster' than the difference between good ram and really high spec ram

intel q6600 is the cpu of choice at present, also if you get a cheap motherboard (cheap doesnt mean nasty) you can use your existing ddr memory (unless your mobo is really old and has PC133 or something)

Scan are good, also check out computer hardware, components, systems and peripherals at the lowest prices from IT supplier Aria Technology they have deals on things most days so you can get things pretty cheap
