I bought a Pioneer 215 D online and was sent a Pioneer 216 DBK.
I have not fitted it yet as not sure what to do, should I send it back and ask for the 215 D that I paid for or should I just keep the 216 DBK.

It's the newer model - 215 has been replaced by the 216.

Almost identical, but 216 is newer and slightly better so just keep it.... 216D as opposed to 215D - the BK refers to the fact that the fascia is black (they come as black or silver IIRC)
