Default WinXP EFS NTFS

Im trying to recover a directory on an NTFS drive, that was secured using the WinXP Encrypted File System. The OS was re-installed over the top and the directory/directories are now inaccessible. Any helpful suggestions appreciated.

You need a copy of the original encryption key otherwise its gone for good im afraid

I got asked shedloads of encryption questions on my exams and I think your the first person to ask since I took the exams many years ago LOL

I do have, bar about 7-10 days worth. I don't have a full backup of course, or I wouldn't be asking.....

I realise that there isn't an option within XP: but I had hoped that there'd be a Linux based OS tool that can defeat the encryption. MS 'encryption' always used to be half-arsed at best.
