Budget Vista box
OK, I've been looking around at various bits of advice and want to build a Vista box for home use. I've refined what I want, perhaps someone can give me the lowdown on what will do the job for me at i.e. the most expensive stuff like mobo, CPU, etc. around the 50-80 quid mark each if poss:
- Core 2 Duo running around 2.5 ghz, overclockable if it makes no difference to system noise
- LGA775 ATX or mini ATX mobo - can be fairly basic, need SATA2, 1066 FSB, DDR2/PC6400, PCI-express, LAN etc. i.e. tech just behind the cutting edge and now cheap
- Only need room for 2 hard drives, a burner, 4 gig of RAM and a graphics card
- Graphics can be pretty basic as long as it's PCI express. My old AGP Geforce from 4 or 5 years ago still does the job. If it can run old games like Freelancer and C&C3 as well as Vista Aero effects etc, that's fine. Not into 3d shoot em ups at all.
- A quiet system overall - as few fans necessary as poss
- Low power consumption / decent power management
