Aye, i bought a copy for £48-50 plus VAT from Misco a few weeks ago (see https://www.scoobynet.com/computer-r...ce-2007-a.html).

Still not got around to installing at home, but been using it at work and it seems ok, although the tape (ribbon) wastes a lot of screen and it over complicates the most simple functions.

Could Microsoft be afraid of OpenOffice??

...but is MSDE a perpetual licence, or do you have to subscribe every year (and take a test)??

If you know somebody who works for the NHS, they can get Office 2007 Enterprise for £19.

I wouldn't even pay that if it was just for general home use, i would just use Open Office which is very good and free.

Er no it's nothing like that at all Show me a place/process where it's simple to nick a car without any reprocutions or risk? I'm not saying it's right or condoning it, but it certainly is easy to use the Net to dload swares with minimal risk or the fear of prosecution or even being caught. I blame the ISP's, government and my lack of morals

Disclaimer: I have not or ever dloaded any illegal swares. Above is purely hearsay

Been several stories recently about people being caught doing this and given big fines (and even jail terms). It's illegal and not worth the risk imo

meh they only go after the people who share masses of warez. Yes the odd person has been targetted and made an example of to try and scare people off. But really the authorities need to be alot more serious in their approach, there simply isn't any proper deterrents atm.

So it makes it acceptable? The one time your mum doesn't hold onto her handbag tight enough it's ok for someone to come swipe it?

No of course not, I do not condone it. Again as I said about the car analogy, dloading warez is a walk in the park, whereas mugging someone is full of risk as well as causing upset to the victim and those around them. Hardly the samething is it

Well yes... it is really - theft

Software companies maybe faceless giants in the eyes of pirates but at the end of the day these companies employ normal working people like you and me.

If their market is decreasing due to piracy, it's not the millionaire shareholders who are going to find themselves in the doo doo, its the normal employees and their families.

Theft schmeft. Market decreasing due to piracy HA! Please tell me you do not believe that rubbish? If they really want to aid in the reduction of piracy they should also reduce their extortionate prices.

So we're back to the 'if it's too expensive, I'll nick it' justification?
