Help required from MacBook Pro (Early 2008 and later) Owners
Hello all,
If any of the mac users out there happen to have an early 2008 or later Macbook (the ones that have the Dashboard icon on the F4 key), could they do me a favor and pop into System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts an take a screen shot of the settings. It will probably take at least two screenshots as you'll need to scroll the list down.
I'm specifically interested in the entries for "Dock, Exposé, and Dashboard", but would like to see all of the default keyboard shortcuts.
The reason is I want to know if it's possible to disable the ability to access Dashboard via the special key on the keyboard. On my machines Dashboard is usually access via the F12 or fn + F12 keyboard shortcut, but on these new machines there is a specific key for Dashboard, F4, and you need to use the fn key plus the F4 key to use it as a function key, rather than activating Dashboard.
I'm wondering if perhaps the Dashboard activation function of the key is somehow hardcoded into the OS, though one would like to think it is not.
Thank you

Thanks for the replies. Can you confirm if the F4 key has the dashboard icon on it. See here for an example of what it looks like.
It seems the standard F12 key combination is being used on your machines for the activation of Dashboard.

Thanks for this chaps. It's interesting they still have F12 set as the Dashboard activator. I'm thinking perhaps the F4 thing is, like the volume options on the keys, hard-coded somewhere in the OS and cannot be disabled.
