Default are dell studio laptops any good

im looking for a laptop with a budget of about 450.00. looking at the dell studio 17 are these any good or can someone reccommend an alternative, main use will be web browsing and pictures/photoshop

They do seem good value for money and Dell are a good make. Do you want to be able to take the laptop on trips with you or just for home? The reason I ask is that I have a Dell XPS M1730 which is a 17" and it's heavy!!!

Worth considering a 15 if you want to be mobile with it.

Very good laptops yeah. Bit bulky in either size but it's a great performer especially with the HD3450 graphics. Slap a blu ray drive in there and with the HDMI out you have a tody little media pc too

cheers lads, andy they do seem heavy but im only buying one so i can stomach sitting in the lounge with the misses while she watches crap on the telly

mike i was only looking at the base model, would it be worth upgrading to the hd3450?

If its just for surfing then probably not, unless its a very cheap upgrade.

But if you want to use it to play HD stuff through your TV then you will want the HD3450 It will also play games to an extent.

I got an xps m1530 and well pleased with it, not sure vista as an OS was the best choice but it'll do.

lol i got an xps 1530 and it's great im using it right now and have been on it mainly allday,ive had a lazy day..how hot does yours get.I was playing COD4 earlier today i clocked the game,but when i put my hand round by the vent,damn it was blowing out some heat.....
