Default pc problem
when put on to sleep mode it sometimes switches it self on earley hours in the morning

What time have you got it searching for updates? could be that. (think its set at 3am)

Just reset the time for it to look for updates, easiest way i think
Go to control panel, system and mainenance and its in there (though that is on vista)

Alternatively, turn it off when you're not using it and save some electricity

or you could turn WOL off.

Set another time for updates, but dont disable it.
