Default Windows XP repair guide

After deleting a game demo numerous things have been buggered up on my PC
1: IE7 has a script error now i've changed to Firefox3 no problem
2: System Restore failed to appear (empty dailog box) but now has fixed itself
When restored to an earlier working date IE7 wouldn't bring up the toolbar and wouldn't show what website i was on in the taskbar
3: Search Companion has disappeared and comes up with a file missing error.

I don't use Search companion very often but don't know if this will affect anything else.

Does anyone have a good guide to repairing XP?
Please make sure it's nice and simple as ,when it comes to PCs i'm a bit simple

cheers

I would back up what you need - Format the drive and do a fresh install.

Cheers Pete i've just done a repair job and it has worked (as far as i can see) but i have backed everything up and may do the fresh install.
What i can't understand though is why uninstalling a demo has caused the various problems i've had

Smooth scrolling is ticked on both browsers SOLVED updated drivers.
