Am after a nice compact laptop (read very small) with decent performance, 2Gb Ram as min. Any recommendations of model specifically?

How small is small?

You can get a 13" half decent spec Dell Vostro for £400.

Or are you looking at ultra small stuff like the 11" Sony Vaios (about £1K )

I've been looking at the Acer Aspire 2920 or 2920z, which has a 12.1" screen.

Retails for around £400-500 depending on processor specifications and seem to all come with 2GB of RAM.

Obviously you can look at the 8.9" stuff like the Asus eee 900/Acer Aspire One or 10" stuff like the MSI Wind/Advent 4211/Asus eee 1000, but processor will be the limiting factor.
