HELP! RedRock NetNow 5 quitting!

OK, need help with this.
am using Netnow 5 (by redrock software). Problem is that when I launch Netnow server, then go into the console, as soon as the 'Mail Router (In)' item changes from Idle to 'doing something' Netnow Server crashes. Why????
the 'idle' message breifly switches to 'routing MLG6......' but it quits before I can get any more info.
basically we cannot send/recieve email, which aint good.
Any ideas on this and why it's happening?
corrupt message at the IPS where the mail comes into us?
corrupt netnow database? (have done reinstall but told it to use existing DB, don't want to loose the account info)
