It will definitely be locked before you get an iTunes application working on it. Back it up, kiss your old applications good-bye, upgrade iTunes, upgrade your iPhone to Firmware 2.0, tear your hair out looking for the files needed to unlock with Pwnage, tear out the rest working out how to use it, then bite your nails and cross your toes hoping that it works again.

Let us know how you get on.

You've got an iPhone 1 and have it unlocked on some network other than O2, correct? If iTunes sees it as being activated then I think you should be ok. What I'd do first is back up the phone, plus have a copy of Pwange 2.x handy should you need to unlock it again if it does get locked.

Use the pineapple! Jack might correct me here, but I'm pretty sure that using the Pwange tool (1.1.x if you're still running 1.x software on the iPhone, or 2.x if you're going to upgrade to the 2.0 software) is pretty straight forward. There is a tutorial type thing here, so it's worth having a read.

It can be straight forward, but if you take a look at that thread you linked to you'll see it's 20+ pages long and pretty much all of it is 'no you need to do this/download this' it's not quite ZiPhone easy. I'd wait.
