Running 98se at moment. No games. Would the XP upgrade be any good. Hear so many bad opinions of XP. Or how about a 2000 upgrade???

Apparently, performing an UPGRADE from one OS to WindowsXP is very bad news. I was advised by a number of people on here to do an entirely clean install (eg. reformat hard disk and start from scratch)

I've noticed WinXP is a little memory hungy, specifically with games - I would advise at least 256MB of Ram.

 

Also make sure all your drivers are up-to-date. It took me ages to do a clean install because the chipset drivers were old.

 

Read an article today with comments about XP problems with Voodoo Graphics so Glide & OpenGL are affected. Bad news for us Quake players.
